SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertinent to porous magnetic sorbents intended for removal of a water surface or a soil of impurities caused by petroleum, greases, fuels and other hydrocarbon products. Porous magnetic sorbent contains a hydrophobic polymeric binding agent made in the form of a powder or granules, a magnetic filter in the form of a magnetic material with particle sizes from 1 nm up to 10 microns, mineral oil and aluminosilicate filler with particle sizes of no more than 100 microns modified with the help of a water-repellent silicone fluid in amount of 0.05-0.5 mass % at the definite ratio of the components. Technical result: the sorbent has porosity of 70-98 %, high sorptive capacity, good magnetic characteristics and it may be used repeatedly.

SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method to clear a water or solid surface from a hydrophobic pollution with the help of a magnetic foam, the walls of which contain magnetic particles of nanometer sizes. The foam is produced on the site of its applications in necessary amounts from compact source materials with the help of the stationary or portable installations. The foam, that has absorbed the pollution, is gathered by the magnetic collectors. The gathered foam is then destructed, and a separated magnetic component may be reused. The fast absorption of a hydrophobic pollution, for example petroleum, by the foam ensures an opportunity practically at once to gather and remove the foam from a cleared surface with the help of the magnetic collectors, and the high speed of generation of the foam - to apply the foam repeatedly, that allows to increase efficiency of gathering of a hydrophobic pollution from a water or a solid surface.

If necessary, composition may contain pigment and plasticizing agent. Composition possess stability at storage, good adhesive properties to various surfaces (metal, glass, ceramics, concrete, plastics) and improved magnetic characteristics. Magnetic material made on its base ensures electromagnetic field absorption coefficient no less than 30 dB with range of frequencies from 100 kHz to 2 HHz.
